Unintended Hiatus

So, I know it’s been a while since I last posted anything. There is a valid reason, I promise.

Lately, I’ve been making earrings! This is something I became interested in a while ago but never really did anything with. But once I got started, I couldn’t stop myself. I’ve been an earring-making fiend and loving it! I’m getting better at it as well. The hardest part was learning how to make those loops. They still come out wonky, sometimes. Once I perfect earrings I’ll move on to bracelets and then necklaces. Who knows what else!

Meanwhile the job search continues. There may be a glimmer of light, though. One of the mobile home healthcare clinics in Florida is looking for a scheduler so I’ve sent her my resume. This woman had originally intended on buying our mobile clinic, but she backed out of the deal for unknown (to me) reasons. We’ll see where this goes.

Thanksgiving Day was rather quiet. Just the Hubs, the kids, the dogs and me. Hubs smoked our 15 pund turkey and it was delicious. I made my mother’s sweet potatoes and my daughter made her famous mashed potatoes. We added some corn and biscuits and, of course, homemade pumpkin pie and a store-bought Dutch apple pie. We put up our new tree. New house, new tree. We have very high cielings so we were able to get a 7 1/2 foot tree in here. The rest of the house will be decorated during the week. The Christmas Spirit is definitely in residence here.

I live near the Cumberland River here in Tennessee, and every year they put up a magnificent display along the riverwalk. It’s free to walk through it and there was a food truck there serving hot chocolate, tea and coffee. We took our first stroll through on Saturday evening. It is so lovely and colorful. Really magical! We will probably walk through again, since we live so close to it.

That’s it for now! Tell me how your holiday decorating is coming along!

Keep it sparkly!

  1. You get to take a hiatus whenever you want! Awesome jewelry BTW. And cool Christmas displays. You live in a pretty part of the country. We used to decorate like crazy. In the yard in front of the house, we had an almost life-sized fire chief Santa sliding down a candy cane from the roof with his bag of goodies, with three firefighter elves holding a safety net beneath him, just in case. 😉 Rudolph was driving the antique fire truck and yes, his nose did light up. In the south yard, we had a softball game between peguins and polar bears, and in the north yard (“flying” between two trees), a by-plane from North Pole Delivery was piloted by a reindeer, and it dropped parachuted packages in its wake. Ahead, a Will Rogers elf and a Wiley Post elf manned the control tower. (We live in the flight path of Wiley Post Airport.) We also wrapped a lot of our 30 oak trees in lights. It was pretty cool looking. Sadly, age caught up to us and it became a real chore to get everything up, and then take it down after the holidays. What we used to put up in a day turned into a week, and then two, because we had to rest in between. Sucks to get old and crickety. Now there’s just a swag of lighted greenery around the front porch and a wreath on the door. That will get put up tomorrow if my knee cooperates. We shall see. LOLOL Enjoy the Cumberland River lights and have a great week!

      • I probably do have pictures tucked away somewhere but it’s been several years since we did all the decorations. I know I don’t have any digital copies. They’s all be actual photographs. You know, back in the day when we used actual film in a camera and then had to develop the film and print photos from the negatives. LOL If I come across any in my rooting around in “the archives” (ie. our junk room), I’ll pass them along. 🙂
